Welcome to our Environmental Fluid Mechanics Group!
The Group is led by Dr Sergio Maldonado. We do research into environmental fluids, including both fundamental questions and applied research. We make use of theoretical, experimental, and numerical tools, as well as AI. Examples of research we carry out include: physics-informed neuronal networks applied to fluids, development of optics-based measurement techniques for experimental fluid mechanics, and fundamental aspects of fluid-particle interactions (e.g. algae, sediment or plastic particiles in turbulent flow). Our group is based at the University of Southampton in the UK, but we also have strong links with and members at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. Learn more about us and our research.
